It's been a while since I made web
pages, so be patient. I have aquired this baby squirrel at 5 weeks old and nearly dead. Dehydrated and freezing cold with
a little cough, runny eyes and nose. Well, as you can see, she's still here.
As a naturalist I am compelled to set
her free, now that she is fully recovered and grown some. She still has bad days. She gets week and sleepy. Somedays in the
afternoon she comes to me and lays in my hands and trembles. I am assuming it is a seizure disorder. I supplement her diet
with calcium and have followed all the information from rehab sites and vets. There is nothing else wrong with her. Maybe
thats why I found her on the ground in the dirt? Mama squirrel felt this baby was not right. I don't know.
What I do know, is if she gets the
calcium every other day, nothing happens to her. We go outside, she has her own toys. Her own cat climbing poles, her own
nest sites, her own personal bathroom area, ( I know, can you beleive that?)She has taught me games to play with her. ( she
really loves "can't touch my tail") So I was thinking.... I study animal behaviour. I have come to realize there isn't
much information on specific behaviours of squirrel. I have made some observations that help me understand her better.
